To Your Health – July 2010
Greetings from wet Portland, Oregon! We have had more than our fair share of rain this Spring. As beautiful as the green is, a bit of sunny blue skies would be greatly appreciated. In this newsletter, I have provided natural and non-toxic enzymes and botanicals to support your skin and also nutritional support for pain anywhere. Also an article from www.Mercola.com
compiles the many adverse side effects of bisphosphate drugs (Fosamax, Actonel and Boniva), which are widely prescribed for osteoporosis prevention. What you read may surprise you, and, if you are one of the millions on one of these drugs, you may become very concerned.
To Your Health,
Skin Nutrition Summary
Skin problems have many causes, are wildly misdiagnosed and often treated with toxic drugs that have terrible side effects. Below is a list of enzymes, botanicals and other foods that nutritionally support self-healing of the body, which includes the skin and the immune system.
DERM contains an enzymatic antihistamine enzyme (amylase) that helps relieve acute allergies, itchy skin and is used to nourish the skin in people who may have a tendency towards rashes, bug bites or bee sting reactions or reactions to poison oak/ivy. It will also provide nourishment during episodes of herpes. It provides nutritional support during abscesses. Usage: 3-4 caps at onset and every one - two hours until relief is obtained. This enzyme may be taken every hour until relief is observed.http://www.litalee.com/SFP_shopexd.asp?id=250
Thera-zyme SKN is an excellent enzymatic formula for gentle detox and nourishment of the liver, kidneys and intestines. SKN provides nutritional support of normal function and structure in people who may have blemishes or any kind of skin problem including acne, frequent skin eruptions or rashes, many warts or moles, excessive perspiration or a lack of perspiration. http://www.litalee.com/SFP_shopexd.asp?id=259
This is for soft tissue trauma, edema and many other conditions. I recommend TRMA for nutritional support of normal function and structure for the immune system. TRMA is a nutritional support formula for the skin, eyes, hair, and ears, for edema (water retention) anywhere including ear fluid, for soft tissue trauma (accidental or surgical) including gums, soreness or discomfort anywhere from injury, joint problems, immune system problems such as frequent infections, and more serious health conditions. TRMA can help relieve anxiety, which can lead to sighing a lot. In addition, the kelp in the TRMA formula is a good source of minerals. Note: if gastric problems are present (gastritis, hiatal hernia or ulcers), it is very important that TRMA be taken on an empty stomach with only water. If this causes gastric irritation, simply open up the caps, add the enzymes to water and drink. The majority of people with gastric problems do not need to do this. Usage: 4 caps between meals 3x/d (about 30 minutes before or about 2 hours after meals). http://www.litalee.com/SFP_shopexd.asp?id=265
Herbs, Botanical, Vitamins and Foods
an Ayurvedic herb, is excellent for nourishment of the immune system, gallbladder, liver, colon, eyes and skin. Turmeric is a mild curry spice used by millions of Asian people. It supports normal structure and function for healthy DNA, cardiovascular health and skin problems, including psoriasis, gallbladder problems, and weak vision. It is a COX inhibitor (inhibits free radicals, like aspirin), and provides a gentle liver and colon detox. Try 1 cap 3x/d with food. If you need more help, increase to 2 caps per dose. I recommend a potent herbal form of turmeric (New Chapter) from Costa Rica, 1-2 caps 3x/d. Start with one cap and increase if needed. But organic turmeric powder is excellent as well — either sprinkled on food or in capsules.

nutrition is always indicated in people with skin problems, allergies and many other health conditions.
Hypothyroidism: http://www.litalee.com/shopexd.asp?id=180 Progesterone in Vitamin E Oil
is excellent for nourishing the skin and preventing the thinning of skin (whereas estrogen has the opposite effect – causing aging of skin and age spots).

Coconut Skin Lotion or Coconut Moisture Cream
Coconut Oil/Progesterone/Vitamin D3 Lotion is wonderful for healthy skin. Melt about 2 oz or so of coconut oil and add about 2 dropperfuls of 2000 iu per drop of Vitamin D3 from lanolin not fish oil (cholecalciferol — NOT vitamin D2) and about two squirts of Peat’s oral 10% natural progesterone in vitamin E oil. Stir until completely mixed. Apply in the morning and at night before bed to your skin anywhere. Use very pure coconut oil. I use Aloha Nu from the Philippines.
Nutritional Support For Pain
Here is a list of enzymes and botanicals that help nourish areas of the body that are in pain. One of the magical things about enzymes is that they can target specific areas of the body, such as the nose, eyes, back, joints, skin, muscles and so on. The following formulas have many uses other than aches and soreness, but here I am emphasizing only the particular problem involved in each formula. I also recommend physical therapies that support healing, including chiropractic, acupuncture and osteopathy.
Thera-zyme OSTEO: nutritional support for people who may have a history of osteoarthritis, gout; musculoskeletal soreness, difficulty walking, bone or joint pain in the spine, hips, knees, feet or hands; stiff joints, sore muscles; diagnosed with fibromyalgia; inflammation of any kind (fever, redness, swelling or pain). Dosage: 3-6 caps 3x/d.
Thera-zyme IVD: nutritional support for joint pain anywhere, including the knuckles, broken or fractured bones, gout, TMJ headaches, any kind of vertebral ache, disc problems (including a herniated disc) and TMJ headaches. Dosage: 4 caps 3-5x/d until pain is relieved plus chiropractic.
Thera-zyme Para: a calcium formula indicated for low back pain, muscle soreness and weakness; nocturnal restless legs or cramps in the legs, toes (not gout), etc. Dosage: 2-4 caps anytime 3x/d. Note: women can be prone to low back pain during menses because calcium peaks out at ovulation and decreases as menses approaches.
Thera-zyme Sym: indicated for neck or upper cervical problems (C1 or atlas, C2 and C3). Indications requiring Sym: headaches including migraines, stiff/sore neck and difficulty turning the head. Dosage: 4 caps 3-5x/d to relieve pain and 2 caps 3x/d to hold adjustments.
Thera-zyme Kdy: a lymphatic drainage formula indicated for kidney discomfort or pain (undiagnosed), frontal headaches. Dosage: 3 caps 3x/d between meals. If more help is needed, increase to 4 caps per dose.
Thera-zyme TRMA: a general formula for pain anywhere, for soft tissue trauma, edema, injury, surgery and tendonitis. Dosage: 4 caps 3-4 x/d between meals.
Thera-zyme Opt: contains a food source of vitamin C, indicated for nutritional support in people who may have eye pain, eye strain headaches, feeling of sand in eyes. Dosage: 2-4 caps 3x/d anytime.
Thera-zyme Nsl: contains a food source of vitamin C, nutritional support in people who may have sinus problems including the pain from sinus headaches, stuffy or congested nose, dry nose, frequent nosebleeds (from the dry mucous membranes). Dosage: 2-4 caps 3x/d anytime.
Thera-zyme UrT: nourishes the lining of the mucus membranes in the urinary tract. Indicated for painful or burning urination (cystitis), pain or discomfort over the bladder, and history of kidney stones. Dosage: 2-4 caps 3x/d. Dosage depends upon severity of symptoms.
AKBA (Boswellia) is an herb for nutritional support of immune system problems such as respiratory problems, joint and back pain, skin conditions, prostatitis, Crohn’s, colitis, even some peripheral neuropathy. Start at one 3X/day for a month. In acute situations I double that for two weeks. If no change then it is not the pathway that needs to be affected. Once it is effective, you can decrease the dosage to the lowest dose that still gives benefit.
Thera-zyme Multiple Digestive Enzymes
Thera-zyme Stm: a multiple digestive enzyme (devoid of protease) that nourishes the mucus membranes of the gastrointestinal tract. Indicated for ulcers, burning or pain in the stomach, gastritis and hiatal hernia, esophageal reflux. Dosage: 2 caps with each meal and 4 caps anytime needed to relieve symptoms.
Thera-zyme Bil: multiple digestive enzyme for fat intolerance (poor fat digestion) that can cause discomfort or pain under the right rib cage. Dosage: 2 caps with each meal 3x/d. Note: Turmeric, an Ayurvedic herb, is also indicated for liver/gallbladder and many other problems.
Thera-zyme PAN: multiple digestive enzyme for sugar intolerance (poor sugar digestion) that can cause discomfort or pain under the left rib cage. Dosage: 2 caps with each meal 3x/d.
Thera-zyme VSCLR: multiple digestive enzyme for people who have trouble digesting fat and have health problems resulting from severe lipase deficiency. The enzyme connection to gallbladder problems, gastric problems and diabetes is lipase. Also for headaches at the temples.
Thera-zyme DGST: multiple digestive enzyme for mild digestive problems and for colicky pain in infants. If baby is nursed, mother should also take a digestive enzyme. Baby should be give about ½ cap of DGST several times daily, added to a small amount of milk or water. Helps both nursed and bottle-fed babies.
The Myth of Osteoporosis Drugs
“The case reports first surfaced about two years ago — orthopedists reported that women taking osteoporosis drugs called bisphosphonates to prevent broken bones were showing up with rare and serious fractures of their thighbones,” the New York Times reports. “The bone was snapping like a twig, sometimes splintering. Often there was no trauma, such as a serious fall, to bring it on. And some of the women were younger, in their 50s, with pre-osteoporosis but without the extremely fragile bones of people with the full-blown condition,” the NYT continues.
The fractures are highly unusual because they are occurring in the long bone of the thigh, when ordinarily thighbone fractures occur near the hip socket. Further, because this area does not have a rich blood supply, the fractures are difficult to heal.
New York Times March 24, 2010
The New England Journal of Medicine March 24, 2010
Annual sales of osteoporosis drugs have about doubled to $8.3 billion since 2003, which is a solid indicator that many people are being kept in the dark about their serious risks. I have been warning about these dangerous drugs for over a decade and finally enough time has lapsed to produce the damage that I said they would if they were used long enough. Osteoporosis is NOT due to a bisphosphonate drug deficiency and taking this drug for it will only worsen, not improve, the condition.
One simply needs to treat the CAUSE of the disease and not the symptoms. The irony is that with Fosamax you aren’t even treating the symptoms. You are just fooling your body to produce a denser bone that is actually weaker. It does this because Fosamax is a poison that kills the cells in your bone that help your body repair and replace the bone.
Are Osteoporosis Drugs Leading to Broken Bones?
Fosamax is prescribed primarily to women with osteoporosis in order to make bones stronger and prevent broken bones from the disease. Recently the drugs have also been increasingly prescribed to women with osteopenia, a natural thinning of the bones as you get older, even though no conclusive benefit has been found.
Over the last couple of years, orthopedists have noticed that more women taking these drugs are suffering from serious fractures in their thigh bones — an ordinarily rare occurrence — even during normal daily activities, which is again very rare as your femur (thigh bone) is one of the strongest bones in your body!
Fosamax Linked to Serious Bone Problems
Fosamax, again a drug used to strengthen bones, is associated with so many detrimental bone side effects it boggles the mind.
Even reports of thigh fractures are not new. ABC News recently reported that the Food and Drug Administration asked Merck (the maker of Fosamax) to “add information about the report of femur fractures” to the medications’ package insert back in 2008! More than a year later, they finally did.
Not surprisingly, Merck also tried to hide the fact that Fosamax is causing jawbone death, a disease now known to oral surgeons as Bisphosphate-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (BRONJ) or “Fossy Jaw” — a nasty side effect of Fosamax and related drugs that essentially causes your jawbone to rot and decay.
Bisphosphate drugs have also been associated with:
How Osteoporosis Drugs Kill Your Bones
Bisphosphonate drugs like Fosamax, Actonel and Boniva, are problematic because they stay in your bone indefinitely and disrupt the normal bone regeneration process.
Healthy bones maintain their strength from a continual process of bone breakdown and bone rebuilding. Osteoclasts are the cells that break down your bone, and osteoblasts are the cells that rebuild it.
Fosamax and similar drugs poison your osteoclasts, permanently killing them, so the normal bone repair process is halted. Your bones will indeed get denser. However, denser bones are NOT stronger bones, which is the part they don’t tell you. In fact, eventually your bones become weaker and more prone to fracture.
Because bone is a dynamic structure that requires the removal of unhealthy bone and REPLACEMENT with new bone to stay strong. Fosamax does NOT build any new bone. It only kills the cells that break bone down, so your bone is not benefiting from its natural regenerative process. For women who have been taking this drug for five or more years, their bones have literally lost the ability to regenerate, and this is why many are faced with more brittle bones and fractures.
